THE BACK OF BEYOND

He wasn’t born to his crown as most royalty;

He worked hard for it, so we crowned him, you and me.

The castle is vacant and the throne is dusty;

The gates to his kingdom are now rusty.

The “coaches” in the garage are now idle,

As are his horses, no need for saddle or bridle.

But the paths to the kingdom are crowded from all directions

With his people going there on their vacations

To visit the spot where he now lies,

Only to leave there with tears in their eyes,

But with joy combined with sadness, deep in their soul,

For they have seen where he is, and that was their goal.

And they will return day after day

To pay their respects in their own special way,

With flowers in abundance to beautify his space.

No one is disorderly, no one out of place;

With deep reverence and humility they look with pride

At the bronze markers, lying side by side.

Elvis, we will be with you one day in the by-and-by;

Until then, just listen and you will hear our sigh.

Wait for us at the “back of beyond,”

For when we get our call, we will come.

  Latest update from Joan...

 I will be going into surgery on August 15th at noon.
 I have to be in Nuclear Medicine by 9:30
 and then the Breast Center at 10:00.
 They will both do their thing;
 and then they take me to the surgery center
 which is another building and is behind the hospital.

I humbly ask that you remember Joan in your prayers.
Please add her to your prayer list and
drop her a note with your encouragement
and best wishes!
God bless each of you!
My love,
Janie
