The Chapel on the
Knoll
(The Elvis Presley Memorial Chapel, Tupelo,
MS)

There is a Chapel on a knoll in a little
Mississippi town,
There people come to meditate from miles and
miles around.
It stands in all its beauty to the
glorification of God,
And the land upon which it sits has been
consecrated as holy sod.
It was built, not to serve only one
denomination,
But instead, for all races and creeds
throughout the nation.
Here you will find peace, contentment and
solitude
As you pray in private, maybe for the
impossible to St. Jude.
But as you look around at its simple splendor
Remember the beautiful boy who sang "Return to
Sender",
As he has already returned, and remember this,
You stand in the "House of our Maker",
because of a man called ELVIS.
This was his wish, this was his desire,.
That we have a place to go, to lift our
spirits higher.
Inside, the twelve disciples are represented
by twelve pews;
The outside is done in redwood of the richest
hue.
The large stained glass window is truly a
labor of love,
And this love shows as it bursts forth in
color with God's radiance from above.
Over in the corner is the altar where he
prayed as a child
And as your eyes gaze at his bible, you can
feel him smile;
A smile of tender devotion and you can hear
him proclaim;
Thank you, Father, they have not forgotten my
name".
We also thank you; Father, as our hearts and
eyes behold
This masterpiece of love, this Chapel on the
Knoll.
We thank you Father for all the hands and
hearts
that brought this to be,
And for August 17th, when it was dedicated, in
your sight,
to the memory of ELVIS PRESLEY.
