The greatest joy
of Elvis's life came at age thirty-three,
When to him and Priscilla was born Lisa Marie.
This was February 1, 1968.
My, oh, my! How this baby did rate.
She was loved
and cuddled and protected by her dad;
He tried so hard to keep her from all that was bad.
She was a good child with manners so sweet;
She loved riding "horsey" on her daddy's feet.
She fell once at
Graceland on the driveway,
And Elvis wanted to mark the spot so it wouldn't wash away,
But Granddad Vernon convinced him not to-
After all, it wasn't quite the same as a little brass shoe.
He did not know
she would be his only child,
And his feelings for her were by no means mild.
The little Princess was worshiped by the King,
And that is why as she grew she was so loving.
She lost her dad
when she was only nine,
But I'm sure she knows he was one of a kind.
She knows they are separated only by years,
And I'm sure she still sees him through her tears.
She can walk
proudly, holding her head high;
The only way to look is toward the sky,
For that is where the Good Lord took him to be,
Because that is the only place for Elvis Presley.
My Heartfelt Thanks to Joan
